Board of Directors

Grace Christian School is governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Directors. The primary mission of the board is to advance the mission, vision, and philosophy of the school. The board provides strategic direction and oversight of the school bylaws and core values, exercises fiduciary responsibility to protect the school's assets, establishes policy-based governance, and manages the head of school.

Chairman

Jethro H. Piland, III, Chairman of the Grace Christian School Board, is the Chief of Fire & EMS for Hanover County and a 26-year veteran of the Department. He manages 186 career employees and over 400 volunteers. Jethro has served on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association since 2014 and is Chairman of the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College EMS Advisory Committee. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1996 at the Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Public Administration & Public Affairs Degree from Virginia Tech in December 2005. He received the Hanover Fire-EMS Line of Duty Performance Award given for his actions during Tropical Storm Gaston, when he helped save a man who was pulled into raging waters when a bridge collapsed. In addition to the fire department, he is a flight paramedic for VCU Health. Jethro, his wife Mary Catherine, and their children Ava and Alex faithfully attend Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Glen Allen.

Corey Doise is the current Board Treasurer. Doise is a CPA and has served in multiple finance-related capacities in the building supplies and electrical components manufacturing industries during his career. At Grace, he oversees the school finances (beyond the day-to-day bookkeeping), to include creating and directing Grace’s operating budget, handling investments and managing the details of the expansion project loan. Corey is a founding Board member and was a part of the vision for Grace from its start as just an idea among a small group of parents. Corey and his wife, Nicole, co-own Doise Accounting Services, LLC in Mechanicsville. They both attend Mechanicsville Christian Center, along with their two daughters, where they have been members for 20+ years and where Corey serves as an Elder.

Holly Claytor is the Vice President of Development & Communications for Special Olympics Virginia, where she has worked for the last 15 years. In her role, she supports fundraising, communications and marketing for the statewide program, with specific focuses in grant writing, corporate partnerships, online giving and storytelling. She has a B.S. in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from ConnectVA, a program under the Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond umbrella. Holly also serves on the Central VA EHDI (Early Hearing Detection & Intervention) Learning Community and as the Team Manager for her son’s Strikers travel soccer team. Holly and her husband, TJ, have two children at Grace, Ivey and Trey; they attend First Baptist Church in Ashland.

Nicole Doise

Nicole Doise is a founding Board member whose has seen Grace grow from 34 students when it first opened its doors in 2013 to now almost 300. Doise co-owns Doise Accounting Services LLC with her husband, Corey, also a Board member; they have two graduates of the school. Alongside Corey, Doise supports the financial management of Grace, to include assisting with the bookkeeping, taxes and budget. Doise’s skillset and long-time knowledge of the school’s history make her a vital asset to the Board and the school. The Doise family are active members of Mechanicsville Christian Center.

Dianne Claiborne

Dianne Claiborne

Dianne Claiborne is the newest member of the Grace Christian School Board. She founded &launched two Christ-centered ministries: The first as founder & Executive Director of Covenant Daughters, Inc. and the second she launched Metro Richmond Younglives as Area Director under the parent ministry of Young Life International. They both provided support and direction towards productive life-styles for teen moms and their babies. Metro Richmond YoungLives chapter became the state-of-the art for the Eastern Seaboard in the U.S. and through the collaboration with community agencies, schools, churches, and supporters, it produced a 100% graduation rate among the girls who stayed in the program.

Dianne occupied the position of Chair on the Pregnancy Resource Center of Metro Richmond Board in 2003 and during her tenor, the Center expanded its services and location.

She retired from 21 years of employment at Reynolds Metals Company corporate headquarters in 2001. In 1993 Dianne received an award from the Richmond Relief Convoy for spear-heading the relief efforts for the Great Midwest Floods of 1993 which earmarked the first Reynolds Metals Co. head-quarters Humanitarian efforts from a community more than one thousand miles away.

Dianne is also currently a member of the RVA Hope Center Board in Richmond, Virginia.

She earned a B.A. degree from Virginia Union University and a Master of Business Administration from Averett University. Dianne has been a member of Mechanicsville Christian Center for 20+ years and she serves as a Home Group Leader and a member of the Women’s Ministry. She and her late husband, William have one son, Jarrett, a daughter-in-law, Jewel and two grandsons, Graysen & Jayden.

David Martin

David Martin

David C. Martin, a graduate of Hermitage High School, has worked in the plumbing industry for over twenty years. He has dedicated the last 16 years to serving as an Outside Sales for Vamac, Inc., a Richmond-owned plumbing, well and septic supply company. Additionally, he has spent the last 20 years meeting the towing needs within Metro-Richmond area serving as a wrecker driver on nights and weekends with Red Jenkins Auto Center. In his spare time, David enjoys boating, cycling, and serving on various committees with Winns Baptist Church. David, his wife Melissa, have two boys, Alexander and Grayson, who both attend Grace Christian School.
